Okeechobee County Professional Fire Fighters Participate in the annual MDA “Fill the Boot “Campaign

bootThe Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is joining forces with Okeechobee County Fire Rescue (OCFR) and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local # 2917 December 4th & 5th (Friday and Saturday) to kick-off the annual “Fill the Boot” drive.

Times are 7:30 -10:30AM and 4:30 -6:30PM.

Firefighters will be collecting at the main intersection of US HWY 441 and State Road 70. All funds collected will provide research and family support counseling in our community, help purchase wheelchairs and communication devices and will give children with neuromuscular diseases the chance to attend MDA summer camp.

People can also donate directly to the event with cash or checks made payable to “Professional Firefighters and Paramedics of Okeechobee.”

MDA is a volunteer health agency working to defeat neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the partnership between firefighters across the nation and MDA.
