1Okeechobee County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a Structure fire at 18239 NW 318th St. located on the Prairie at 15:43 hours on 1-17-16. On arrival firefighters found a fully involved mobile home with the roof collapsed.

The fire was extinguished with the response of two engine companies, two tankers, one rescue, and the Deputy Chief.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is being investigated by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office. Information gathered at the scene indicates that the family had left the home around 09:30 AM the day of the fire.

Neighbors called 911 to report the fire when smoke and flames were seen coming from the home.  The family was displaced by the fire and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.

Crews remained on scene for nearly five hours to assure the fire was out and assisting the State Fire Marshal.
